Crickets and Summer Sounds

Have you really taken the time to listen to the sounds of the Seasons? The other night the crickets outside my kitchen window were so loud I could hardly hear myself think! My phone rang it was a sister from California. After a few minutes she said, "are you outside", (it was 10:30 at night), I said no. She said, "those are pretty loud crickets". I said they sure are and I'm ten feet from the window!
The summer sounds are some of the best! Kids splashing in sprinklers, all kinds of music in the air, people mowing their lawns, the sound of neighbors chatting with each other, the "good humor man", (although there isn't anything humorous about him really), families in the parks, the list goes on. Don't we wish we could hang onto these sounds? I guess we can in our memories.
Who knows. I love them can't wait for next summer to get under way. Until then make your list of sounds of the summer, and I will look forward to the sounds of Fall, Winter and Spring!

Where does the time go?

Well, here I am again almost a year later and what a year it has been! I hope to be more regular about this blogging. Like my friend says, "it's such a good way to keep track of your life", all the challenges! I will write more in a couple of days.
I will be attending an awesome convention for doTerra Essential Oils.....I am excited to hear all the latest and see and experience new products! I will report in a few days. These are truly life changing. Have a good night!

To All Those Who Protect Us...

From the past to the present all those that have paid the price, or those that are serving our country now.......
I say thank you!

I hope each one of us has had a chance at some point today to take a moment to say "thanks".. and to think about all the innocent people that were taken from their families eight years ago today.

Let's not give up the fight for freedom! For all of those that have family members serving in the military we know they are putting everything on the line for each of us....we have to help them by being strong, praying for peace daily, so we can bring them home!! There are great men and women that are giving up many months away from their families to do what they can for the fight! I'm sure we all know families like these My own son will be off again in April for eight to ten months....not the words a mother wants to hear that's for sure....
last time he went, I told him to tell the man in charge over there that your mother said,"to please get this war over before Christmas"
I don't think he told him
Be proud of our country.
When you see the flag it should mean something special!
Thank the people you see everyday in uniform for protecting each of us

You are all awesome!! Take care

God Bless America

Labor Day Weedend...

Friday was so much fun! I hadn't been to the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in years. I decided this was the year! There were so many things going this weekend between Utah Valley and Midway it was hard to choose what to do. But the festival won! So my dear friend "The Duchess of Bournemouth" and I set out about 9:30 a.m. went to a (red) parking lot, caught the shuttle that took us right to the main entrance.

What a treat it was to be in such a beautiful setting in the canyon, (guess who didn't have batteries charged for her camera)? Right, me. The landscape was just beautiful. Flowers everywhere.

Dotted around the canyon where gigantic white tents that would seat about two hundred people or so in each one and there where about six of those just for storytellers and their audiences going constantly. Each tent was full almost to capacity each hour.

It was pretty hard to pick which teller to listen to first...they are all so fantastic. One of our goals for the day was to listen to Donald Davis as much as we could and then catch others in between. We did just that! He is outstanding!! The others were fantastic as well.. You can find some of these wonderful tellers on Cd's at your local library...great idea for people that are in the car a lot or road trips with kids or grandchildren!

We had a lovely lunch from and assortment of vender's and topped it off with Maggie-Moos vanilla ice cream, yummmm, w/fresh peaches on top!! Then we just sat a while and visited with different people we knew from other walks of life. It is amazing how many people the festival brings out...families where there, school classes, etc. it was a great day!!

Next year I want to take more friends and family....
A great goal would be to go to the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesbourgh, Tn!! Maybe next October...who wants to go???

Here's an interesting thought...

Today 9-04-09 if things were different, I would be celebrating my "forty-fifth" wedding anniversary with the husband I once had...it has been some twenty one years now. Lots of time, feelings, emotions, challenges.... you name it, have come and gone......But, I am celebrating today in a different way, with memories.......

I celebrate my children and the fact that they have stood by me, and loved me, and comforted me when I really needed them.

I celebrate my grandchildren....I love them so much my teeth ache!

I celebrate my friends that have always been there for me.

I can't forget the important people in my family that have always been there for me, I celebrate you all....
(mother, dad, my sister's, brother and their spouses, etc....you know who you are).

We don't know what the caution and yield signs will mean to us. And it may not be very easy at times....many unanswered questions. But we do the best we can one day at a time. I am so grateful for the challenges and the blessings, we learn from both that's for sure. I know it will all work out in the end!!

I want to celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ...and the power we gain from it in troubled times.....it's all good!
We never know what lies ahead on the "highway" of life, but I know with strength I draw from the above mentioned, I can keep traveling along hopefully taking the right turns.

Thanks, and more thanks to you all.....I love you!!
